Use Your Head

In a similar vein to Stuff On My Cat, I bring you:

Here's a summary. This pooch is called Maddie, and I think I'm a little bit in love with her. You just know that she's got an awesomely sweet nature from looking at these photos, right? Plus, Australian Cattle Dogs are wicked smart and make great companions.

Image:415 also has a photoblog Taniworld: Image 415 that is rich with other Maddie goodness.

Shutup! She is so cute. I'm looking at those pictures over and over and over again. She's a bit resigned, but aims to please. She recognizes the humor and plays along. Or am I reading too much into her expression?

Add in 'wags her tail' and I'd think you're projecting.

My opinion diverges from the norm here.

And I’m probably taking this way too seriously but I hate that shit. Just like chimps dressed as humans. Blargh.

My dogs, especially my latest boy, would die for me. He’s my protector and to take advantage of his love and loyalty by putting stupid things on him & photographing him as he waits for my next command… ewk.

I’d rather pictures of my boy joyously rolling in the snow or wiggling and carrying his bunny by the ear for me to throw. Yeah, I’m too serious about this. I know. :(

I get where you're coming from Loulou, but these pics are only a small percentage of the photos of Maddie. Most of the time she's doing normal dog things. I do get where you're coming from though. If this is a game she plays with Maddie, then I don't find it offensive. Cattle dogs are wicked smart, and I imagine she'd just go 'uh, not thanks' if she didn't want to play.

I can totally understand loulou's comments... but fear not.

(I kinda know this pooch.)

The look of concentration is due to Maddie looking at an off camera hand signal. (It's concentration.) The trick stemmed from "gentle mouth" training. You can put a tasty treat in the palm of your hand and Maddie only licks it from your hand when she gets the "ok" command. Things moved to her head when I saw a picture of a dog with a bone balance on his nose. Maddie will hold it until she gets the same ok. (...and the Halloween costume was just so silly I had to buy it.)

Maddie runs naked on the beach or sleeps in her birthday suit 99% of the time.

I like that reward system, kevin-john, and I used to use that with my doggie (red cattle cross), too. I rarely dressed her up, either, mostly just put her in unusual contexts. she did love wearing a bandana or her string of pearls*, though. she always knew something fun was going to happen when she wore either of those!

and yes, she was nekked the rest of the time... the way dogs should be.

* you never saw this, TOA, but Doz looked very very cute in a three-strand set of (very good fake) pearls. she had an elegant throat ;)

I'm sure Jon-Benet Ramsay's mum always said the same thing.

"She loooooves it. She really does."

muahahahaha

Naw, I see your point. Just not my bag, babydolls.
