On The Short List

I was Google searching for Japanese knitting books (yes, obsessed) and I found a couple of pics from some of the Japanese men's knitting books I already own. This is not the cardigan I plan on making next, I couldn't find a picture of that one anywhere, but here's a pic of one of the one's that's on the short list:

I like the zip front, the cunning way the rib changes direction to give a nice shoulder fit, and the overall slim fit of it from the stretchy rib. I probably wouldn't make this in white, because hello Blimpy McBlimperton, right? But I would make it in a slate grey maybe. Or a heathery grey green. Or black would be nice, but too hard on the eyes to knit.

Do we like?

Yum-mo! Tweedy charcoal, or a really strong dark navy. Or grey. But choose something tightly twisted or it will pill under those patterned arms.

SWEET! Me likey!

Manly, yes, but I like it, too. (God, I have to get off this deo/deo wash obsession).

But as you say, not in white.

Yep, like it a lot. Very un-cardigany.

You are the only person I know who uses the word "cunning" in every day conversation. Is that an Aussie thing or are you secretly a supervillain?

M-H good advice! Thanks!

Thombeau, noted. And I appreciate your taste so that means a lot!

Michael, too manly? Will I look like an imposter? No, it'll be fine, right?

Ms 'foil, excellent. More affirmation!

Freakgirl, it's all part of my cunning plan! Rats, there I go again... It's not so much an Aussie thing as a bit of common parlance I have with some friends. One of those things that sort of starts as group lingo and then spills over into every day. (Adressing people as 'pet' is another one.)

I've found common parlance from my internet interactions seeping into my meat life. When I said, "While you're up, be a lamb and top off my drink?" to my sister at Christmas, she almost hurt herself with her spit take.

And do let a brotha know when you decide on a color, pimp.

I can see that in scarlet... but that could just be because I've been having an ongoing obsession with scarlet for a while now...

But as TB said... Me likey too!

Michael, I've suffered with this affliction for years, and it only gets worse with access to The Internets.

Re: colour. I'm leaning towards greys or grey/greens. It'll be partly based on what yarn I find and how much $$s it requires.

Yani, I don't do red. One colour I cannot wear. My complextions is already a little 'hectic' (as a friend once described it) and wearing red makes me look blotchy and florid. Nice, right?

Ooh. This is lovely. I like the ribbing details as well.

I think it'd look stunning in charcoal.

It's beautiful!

Now if you could only knit a flourescent lime green satin suit....but maybe in flourescent slate gray.

That shaping with the ribbing is cool. I think it would look even better in grey.

Cecilia and Rhonda, I think you are both right. I might try a mid to dark grey, something with a slight tweedyness - but not too much.

Jason, lime green fluoro yarn is surprisingly hard to come by...
