Quiet Times

Is it just me, or has the blogsphere (for want of a better term) seemed a bit quiet this week?

I have no empirical data. None. I haven't measured the depth and breadth of anything, checked the click through rates of anything else, the frequency of this, the rarity of that, looked under the hood or taken a pulse. I am without data. But it kind of seems like some of my favourite blogs have been a bit quite of late.

Oh sure, it was a public holiday in the US at the start of the week. I get that. The international date line, times zones and such magical things also means that traffic here is usually pretty quiet on a Monday, as much of the Northern Hemisphere is still enjoying their Sunday.

Anyhoo, it's just a feeling. Posting on some of my favourite blogs has been a bit quiet this week, and some blogs don't seem to have had a lot of comments this week. Am I right, or is my judgement questionable?

I've been lax on "Have Phaser, Will Travel" this week only because I'm trying to split allegiances by devoting more time to my new professional learning blog, Booked Inn: heroic adventures in teacher-librarianship at http://ianmclean.edublogs.org/

Also a brand new blog format for the NSW Dept of Education & Training's book rap on the picture book, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge at http://rapblog.edublogs.org/ - meaning lots of emails back and forth helping brand new educator blogger virgins to blog for the first time.

But yeah, otherwise the blogosphere - especially yesterday and today - seems [E.Fudd] "vewwy, vewwy qwiet, hehehehehehe..." [/E.Fudd]

Sydney Webloggers' Meetup (ending the hiatus from last July) reconvened last night and, although I was expecting about 15 people, only six of us showed up at the wonderfully atmospheric attic of the ArtHouse Hotel in the CBD. So there must be some other distractions out there.

Bitch, you should be spending more time on FABULON and less at these other so-called "blogs"! It is your duty!

I don't disagree with you... I know that in my case it's been very much one of those "lite on" weeks... some weeks you're just not inspired to post much more than the bare minimum...

I agree. For me, the past few weeks have just been so meh. Maybe it's the winter blahs here in the States...there's not a heck of a lot going on and a lot of us are burnt out on the Clinton/Obama debates...hopefully things will perk up soon.

I just feel so uninspired. Sad, huh?

I've been really busy of late, there's always an influx of work at this time of year and I have at least five different projects to attend to right now. Maintaining my own posting discipline is something I can barely manage. Good job I don't have a life...

It does sound like eveyone's been very busy of late too! It felt like even commenting was a bit light on some blogs, as if blog traffic in general was either light or uninspired! :)
