5 Things I Have Stuck In My Mouth Recently That Were Frankly Delicious

  • Fresh lychees
  • Squidgy dates, all the way from the United Arab Emirates
  • French 5 fruits marmalade on sourdough
  • My own homegrown cherry tomatoes
  • Christopher Um, something else

OMG, you totally blew Christopher Lowell, didn't you?

I gotta figure he has a ruffle down there, or at least some fringe, yes?

I had to go look him up, just to check. I'd never heard of him, but you never know, right?

No.

Tease! I NEED details! So you did the horizontal tango, eh? Guys like it when one says "I've never done this before." Go figure.

You know, I bet French 5-fruit marmalade would taste good on Christopher, too. I'm just saying..."open a new window."

MG, excited much?! :)

Christopher is... a friend (with benefits), nothing more. We have dinner, he gives a great massage, he's good company, and dynamite in the sack. We can talk about opera, books, and what we want. It's nice and not a compromise, it works out just fine the way it is. (F*ck buddy, to be crass.)

Which is way more than I was intending to share, but there you have it.

Mikey dropped into conversation the other day that he has drunk a Breakfast Martini. It's made with a dollop of marmalade in it. Sounds wrong/fabulous!

Okay. Maybe that is the answer I need locally, as you note: 'friend with benefits.' I thought I had that going down with LABF (Los Angeles boyfriend) when visiting Palm Springs but it's still in the 'what am I doing' stages in my head. I think he wants me as a FOB but I feel somewhat cheapened by the experience. (too much information, I know) I'm going back out in March; LABF is visiting as well. Maybe it's time to have a nice long chat about why we still connect two-years later.

I don't think he's the answer. And by that I mean...I have far too many questions for just one answer. At best LABF has opened my eyes to the idea/concept that I have something of value to offer..that I can step out of my box to broaden my horizons somewhat. That's what he's done for me to date; shown me possibilities.

I for one want to know more about the tomatoes! What sort of cherry tomatoes are they?

The Other Andrew said...

MG, I'm going to have to break you of this unhealthy Chardonnay habit. May I recommend a crisp Sauvignon Blanc?...

The 'friends with benefits' concept is obviously not for everyone. I mean, the concept only works if you like each other enough but not so much that you want a relationship. If that makes sense? If one wants more than the other can give - disaster. It's kind of affectionate recreational sex, rather than relationship sex.

The tough thing is that we have to find our own answers I think. LABF may not be able to supply any, but then again like you said, he's opening your eyes.

Ur-spo, they're called "Tom Thumbs" here - I don't know if they're called anything different in the US. Great flavour and easy to grow in a pot, so long as you don't them dry out.

Er, yeah. So anyway...like what UR-SPO said.

Carefully sidestepping your intimate relationships...

I found a little cafe just up the road which serves beautiful home grown food. I had a delicious chicken and cucumber wrap. It has a nice lefty vibe to it too, not slutty (waitress) commercialism like many of the places in town.

"A friend (with benefits)". It's something I've thought about from time to time in the last few years of my, generally speaking, celibate lifestyle. I just wish my friends were more attractive!!! :)
