5 Things About Tuesday, 7th October: No Lead In My Pencil Edition

  • Daylight Savings time! I love Daylight Savings time, but the first few work days always leave me feeling like I'm a bit jetlagged. Not, "just got back from Italy" jetlagged, but more like "just got back from Perth" jetlagged. It's the first few days of getting out of bed an hour earlier that does it.
  • It is possible to have Mondayitis on a Tuesday.
  • I forgot to take my book with me for the bus this morning, and then I thought about doing the Sudoko I had in my bag instead. Tragedy! My pencil was broken. So I did the only reasonable thing and stared at the tall, pretty French boy sitting opposite instead.
  • Speaking of books, I was excited to see that Gregory Maguire has a new "Wicked" sequel out - A Lion Among Men. I saw it in my local bookstore's window, so I think I might have to treat myself and grab it this week. Time to plan some Summer Reading!
  • I've been curious to buy the original novel of "Lost Horizon" by James Hilton (pub. 1933) for ages, as I'm such a fan of the film. It's been hard to find in a bookstore, so I ordered it online last week. I like having a paperback novel to cart around on the bus (I mean, you can't count on there being pretty boys to look at all the time), but I didn't realise that if I had wanted to I could have downloaded the original version for free.

Too bad tall pretty French boys aren't as ubiquitous as sudoko is nowadays....or as easy.

Exactly, or as hard.

I have heard that the sequel to Wicked isn't as good. You might want to have a quick flick through before parting with your hard earned. If I can remember which blog the conversation took place on I will let you know so you can read for yourself.

Word verfivication: Kisim (seems to think you should be kissing nice French boys!)

Mindy, I read the first sequel "Son Of A Witch" and quite enjoyed it. Even if the reviews are poor I'll probably still read it. I have all of his other adult fiction.

we don't have DST it is a nuisance to be in one time zone then another.

DST is fantastico. I can't understand all the haters who write in to the Herald about it. :)

I was just wondering whether the tell frenchman was tagged "easy", "medium" or "hard" when I remembered that the hard Sudoko puzzles in the UK papers are labelled "diabolical". So it is possible to be too hard perhaps.

PS - if he was sitting opposite you in a 4-seater he can't have been that tall - real tall men can't fit in those seats even if there's no one opposite. ;)

Like Tom I have been a big advocate of DLS - till I moved to Perth. The heat of the day arrives just as the school kids leave. Umm- not good for all concerned. So, I think it should be assessed according to the region. Southern & Eastern Oz - yep; avoid for Perth.

Tom, pretty French boy was very tall. We were sitting diagonally opposite each other in the seats and his knees took up all the available space. I had to almost crawl over him to get... let me just savour that image for a moment...

Nanna, agreed. The only problem is the way it messes with the time differences when some states do and some don't. You guys are 3 hours behind us now.

Ahh, it was Son of a Witch I was thinking of. So if you liked that one then you'll no doubt be good with this one. Sorry!
