Countdown To Eurovision.

It's just around the corner now. My toes are already curling in anticipation. My ears are already tingling at the thought of all those three minute (max), key change probable (but optional), pop gems. Some will be polished gems, some will be diamonds in the rough and some will prove the old adage You can't polish a turd. Many will make no sense at all. Drinking games will be devised, such as Scull Your Drink When You See A Jumpsuit or Everyone Downs A Shot Each Time The Hosts Fill An Awkward Moment By Saying "Great!".

The real source of my excitement though, the real thing that gets my junk tingling, is that my favourite Swedish crypto-homo glam rockers "The Ark" are singing their little hearts out for Sweden.

I can't wait.

When is the show? I watched it for the first time last year, and I'm hooked.

May 12th Finland time, which means it'll be shown here on Sunday night the 13th. I think there are other shows leading up to it on SBS, but I haven't actually checked out the whole schedule yet.

Shall I host a Eurovision Party at the fab flat?

I'll be Armidale selling alpaca raffle tickets, god damn it... I'll miss Terry Wogan's ohh so professional (but hilarious)commentary.

I am EXTREMELY jealous... they don't include us, or even show it here! Boo America!!!!

I love the cheesy pop too! I seriously need to move...

THEY won't let us see it any more. Actually it hasn't been broadcast in the States for 20 years. Once and one time only our wildly not-for-profit Public Broadcasting System let us see the Song Contest and it was a hoot. Oh well. Is anybody streaming it live I wonder?

Bing Bang Bong!

TOA, if you want to watch semi-finals on Saturday in company, give me a call. There are plans afoot.

It's sad that the US networks don't understand the gem that is Eurovision. We're having the semi finals on Saturday night, along with some documentaries and short films about Eurovision. Then the finals on Sunday night. w00t!

Mikey & DV - I sort of already committed to going to a Eurovision party, but I need to confirm that it's still on.

Oh, DV I just re-read your comment and realised you were referring to the Semis on Saturday not the finals on Sunday - could be a goer!

Yep Saurday night is our plan. M&J's (we're housesitting whilst they go down the coast) house.
Chinese takeaway for dinner

Watching and mocking at 8:30 sharp :)

mouse is even printing score cards

let me know.

Mikey, the invite is extended to you as well.

Sounds like a plan DV! Although, I wouldn't mind seeing the "Finland: Zero Points" documentary that's on beforehand at 7.30 too! 6 onwards sounds good.

Just make sure M&J get good SBS reception, because I know I don't...

ooh a doco. sounds excellent.
They have cable so I'm assuming it will be triffic reception. hmmm might double check though
