Cool!
Explain.
LOVE the 'Where's my red pen' shot. So funny. And maddening.

I saw this when I was walking to work on Thursday. We have these little kiosk things dotted around the city, some sell magazines and some sell drinks & snacks. They're all of the one design and have illuminated advertising panels build into the sides of them, where large transperancies fit in.

This is part of the text from an ad, I think it was for watches (can't remember). The text caught my eye, and then I liked the way the city was reflected in the dark grey backgrond of the ad. I thought it sounded optomistic, and I liked that.

That pic in my Flickr photostream of the For Lease sign, drove me a bit nuts. As I'm sure you can imagine. I noticed one spelling error and then I saw another, and another...

PS. I wasn't sure about the title of this pic, because 'beckoning' is a visual rather than auditory thing really isn't it? Can you hear someone beckon?

No, it works. Your life could be like a siren song, beckoning you to smash yourself on the rocks.

PS The righteousness of your indignation over the lease sign is diluted by 'transperancies' and 'backgrond' and 'optomistic'. I'm just saying.

Or was that irony? I'm never sure.

This sober alkie and addict likes both the add and the picture, TOA, even though I am well aware that it is part of an advertising campaign for Beck's Beer.

Now thats irony :-)

Is it really for beer. I didn't take that much notice. For some reason I thought it was a watch ad, but I guess the "Beckons" bit is a play on words. Oh well, I still like the phrase divorced from it's context.

Yes, it really is for Beer (they also have quite a comprehensive TV advertising campaign running at the moment of late with the same slogan), 'beckons' is indeed a play on words, and I too like it divorced from it's context :-)

I like the idea of Becks beckoning. And although the whole carpe dium implication still works for them, I don't think the marketing advertisers planned on the likes of this demographic (this demographic meaning moi of course), picturing a certain alluring David ...

*Sigh*
