There is something about seeing these guys towards the end of Winter each year that gives me a lift, puts a kick in my step. Especially when they are combined with a blue sky day. Spring is just around the corner! Sure, they are a Winter flower but they seem to be heralding Spring in exaggerated fashion.
Shall we make it a date for next year?!

The magnolia right on our property line is actually putting out some mid-summer blooms at the moment, which I believe it also did last year.
It's a melancholy time for me (annually) when the magnolias bloom there (and the cicadas are singing here). Fall doth approach. Need. More. Summer. I should move South.
The blooms are GAWJUS, though! (See, I'm already affecting my Southern accent.)
I adore magnolias, and these are particularly great shots of them.
