All Hallows

Last night was my first ever Halloween party and it was a blast! Web-Goddess and The Snook very kindly invited me to a Halloween bash at their house, along with a bunch of their friends that included other Sydney bloggers. Kris and Rodd went with a very cool Iron Chef theme for their costumes, Kris as the Hiroyuki 'The Delacroix of French Cuisine' Sakai and Rodd as Chairman Kaga (complete with yelow capsicum, for the biting of). Kris turned out to be just as nice and funny as I expected from reading her blog.

I had a really great time, ate some very cool 'creeptastic' food Kris had gone to all the trouble of making, discovered the US *cough*delicacy*cough* Marshmellow Peeps (err, a bit yuck), and enjoyed the music and conversation. Some of the other Interweb cool kids that were there included Gadgetgirl & Yank In Oz and Helen of Spycore (complete with Blythe dolls).

Good times. Thanks for invite Kris & Rodd!

Thanks so much for coming and bringin Michael. It's awesome to now be able to picture the person behind the website!

Dammit Andrew... your mention of Marshmallow Peeps made me instantly think of The Bunny Survival Tests... http://www.keypad.org/bunnies/

Yaniboy, of my gah - that's so bizarre! Funny, but weird. These ones were ghost and jack o' lantern peeps. Cute looking, but waaay too sweet for my taste. [gag]

I hate the suckers. You'd think I could avoid them being over here, yet it's become some big family joke to send them to me for every holiday.

Thanx from moi too Kris. I had a great time, and was glad that Andrew invited me along.

[Even though as his supposed invited "date", I didn't even get a corsage, let alone a limo to pick me up *sniff*]

But I can assure all readers here, that our beloved TOA did indeed look quite spiffy in his recently made 19th century military uniform. Hmmmmm, seamen.

So thanx again Kris *Smooches*, it was a very gentle breaking of my Halloween cherry I must say. And of course thanx too to Andrew for inviting moi.

Hi The Other Andrew! It was lovely to meet you, but I can't believe you didn't bring a corsage for your date. Outrageous. You did look very spiffy in your costume, and you know when you meet someone for the first time at halloween, whenever you see them, you think of them in their halloween costume! Teehee! Seamen!
Have you seen the Easter peeps? They are so freaking cute, bunnies and birds! I couldn't bring myself to eat the halloween ones this year- the sugar feels like sand in your teeth!
The best thing about having so many bloggers around is that even if you miss half of the party on account of needing a lie down, you can relive the parts you missed! You being me, of course.
(I hope this posts, I've had difficulty getting the word verification to work. I WILL NOT LET TECHNOLOGY CONQUER ME!)

Hey there Miss Helen! It was nice to meet you too, and your 'Blythe' dress was very cute. (Although I have to say that I'm still a bit creeped out by the actual Blythe dolls. A bit too 'Village of the Damned' for me! Those big dead eyes...)

I'm with Kris on the 'Peeps' situation, not a big fan. They sure look cute, but too sweet and like you said the powdered sugar on the outside is like sand on your teeth. Yech.

I checked out your blog and your Flickr page, lots of cute projects! I love those black skull buttons you made and the 'licquorice allsorts' type beads.

agree with you TOA, those Blythe dolls have scary dead eyes that follow you everywhere. I find them simultaneously attractive (because they're dollies, and interesting dollies, not like barbie things) and repulsive.

I went to http://www.thisisblythe.com/ and read the history. go and read it TOA. a friend of mine when we were kids had one of the ones which changed eye colours! I knew there was something weird and familiar about those faces. they changey-eye ones really were bloody freaky.

The ones that Helen had at the party had the 'changing eye colour' thing. One of the dolls had this sort of weird pale orangey gold eye colour as one of the changes, that was just too 'Damien' or something. Is it weird that I get creeped out by them? I mean, sure they're cute on one level, but with their huge heads and tiny sticky bodies... maybe they remind me of Calista Flockart too much.

Calista Flockhart....good one...

I agree that the orange and pink eyes are a bit icky. I'm in the process of changing them all when I find nice new colours. You can get glow in the dark ones and red and all sorts of odd colours, but I'm a bit conservative.
Anyway, Andrew, I remember the following conversation taking place:
Miss Helen: "Do you love them?"
The Other Andrew: "Yes, I love them". If you deny this, I will just blame the perscription pharmaceuticals I was on.
And I cannot believe you compared my girls to THE HUMAN CHUPPA CHUP! How Rude! Their bodies are a bit chubbier than barbie, in comparison, and in their defence, they're like the difference between a supermodel and a regular skinny woman! Still thin, but not terrifyingly so.
But truly, sometimes I too am freaked out by them, especially in the middle of the night if I've accidently left one of them with orange eyes! Eeep! You were holding Daisy May, and the poor dear is a bit unhinged, it's ok to be afraid of Daisy May, she's having a difficult adolesence.
I'm glad you enjoyed my crafty things! :D
worldpeaveandaspeedboat: the original ones are *really* expensive these days, they go for up to $2000 on ebay. One of my friends told me that she had one and she and her sister were terrified of it and would chase each other around with it and punish it by flushing it's head in the toilet! She freaked when I told her!

I refuse to confirm or deny that I said 'I love them'... :-) Mind you I love Divine, bad movies, bad 70's interior design, so you know there is such a thing as so bad, it's good.

The glow in the dark eyes would scary, could you even imagine in the middle of the night?

There is a whole cult of Peeps. My sister is one of those devotees. As a child she'd let her's sit out for days to get stale, afficionado that she was of a crusty outer Peep layer.

When first I read that you brought 'Michael', I paused like "Was I there?" for a sec. I have to cut back on the SSRI's. Bodhi is Michael, too? Did I know that? Then there's your ex, Mikey. Imagine the confusion when we start using my real name!

The Other Andrew said...

Michael, you.
Michael, Bodhi.
Michael, (the lovely ex) aka Mikey
Michael, the dog show man (the not so lovely ex from Adelaide)
Michael, the pocket rocket blonde Italian I lost my heart to in Perth (sigh)
Michael, my old best friend from school who was a sexy Greek boy and used to let me play with his big... never mind

Remember once how I said too many Michaels?...

Bodhi said...

Sweetie, trust me, one can never have too many Michael's. Its a good thing, m'kay.

But now my secret identity is revealed to Mikey. I feel my super powers have now been somewhat, um, compromised.

Ooh, always did want to get caught in a compromising position.

Do you prefer me like this ...
[Bold and sexy]

or this ....
[Smouldering and alluring]

Michael said...

I prefer you bent over the back of the sofa.

OK, I'm just rude now.
