Weekend Plans

As it turns out, it looks like this weekend is going to be the last weekend before the end of the year where I won't have to try and juggle a bunch of social committments just to get through my weekend. Unless I'm having a senior's moment and have forgotten something (entirely possible) the biggest committment I have this weekend is to beauty. Haircut day!

I heart Haircut Day.

Also on the agenda, cleaning my room. It kind of looks like a landfill site at the moment. If there was a landfill site comprised of size "Small" menswear, back issues of magazines, some piles of books, and the odd bit of detritus that is. With a bed perched on top.

Sadly, one of the things about being a fast reader is that sometimes even magical experiences are over too soon. I tracked down the sequel that I mentioned here and devoured it in a night. I tried to make it last, really I did. Loved it! It's not that often that a book makes me cry, even though I'm a big ole softie, but I shed a few tears during this one. Anyhoo, my point being that I have some reading time this weekend and I'm open to suggestions. Hit me up in the comments if you've something to suggest. Remember, it's Summer here now so I'm looking for nothing too weighty and challenging. Think your better class of Beach Reading and you're on the right track.

Given that it's December 1st, my pre-Christmas panic has kicked in. Must. Start. Shopping. I enjoy gift giving but it can get a bit stressful, so the last thing I plan on doing is leaving it to the very last minute. I really don't want to be stalking the shops the day before Christmas feeling like the 10 seconds of Think Music is counting down, and I haven't yet come up with the right answer.

::dunka, dunka, dunk... dunka, dunka, dunk::

So, that's my plans. Not rivetting, agreed. Not entirely suck-worthy either. There's room in there to mix it up, be spontaneous, and avoid doing some of them (room cleaning, specifically). You?

I've had a sudden rush of pre-Christmas panic too - glad I'm not the only one. I've set aside the WHOLE of Sunday for a leisurely present-hunting expedition. Interspersed with caffeine.

What do you bet that I come home with nothing much apart from shoes and books for myself?!

Hah, glad I'm not the only one.

I think I'm with you on the book thing... but I hate shoe shopping! (I have recalcitrant feet.)

Mmmmm, it's HAIRCUT DAY for me tomorrow (Friday) as well! Yay! And I'm getting my VERY FIRST FACIAL. Well, as done by a professional with professional products.

I amazed myself by getting a couple of presents for people in November, but I also have to post them early. Or is it too late already?...

yes indeedy, it is time to get out the christmas lists and hit the shoppes and the internet ASAP.

Michael, your First Facial! So good for tightening the skin. Nothing takes me back to me youth like the thought of my first facial.

Morgan, you're ahead of the game! As to 'too late', I don't know. By sea/land to Ireland? Maybe(?)

Ur-spo, "shoppes" makes me think of little diamond leadlighted windows, curious street urchins and gas lamps! Cute. Festive.

Other than the family-in-law. I'm done with the christmas shopping. I feel so virtuous.
mind you, the family-in-law shopping will take me the next 4 weeks to complete. hateful, we have everything type people.

My Haircut Day is next Saturday... the pre-Christmas Haircut (which, to the Ha, I would have liked the week after, but the Hair Girly couldn't fit me in)...

And on the theme of Appropriate Beach Reading... I heartily suggest the three novels by Joe Keenan... Blue Heaven, Putting on the Ritz and My Lucky Star (which I only just discovered existed)... just as light and fluffy as you could want, and I can almost guarantee they'll have you writing in a similarly jaunty style for at least a week afterwards...

Sunshine, every fortnight? I'd go broke if I did that... the overpriced cuts that I always get. :)

DV, shopping for the out-laws, always a tough experience!

Yani, sadly I've read those Joe Keenan books. Still on look out for other new stuff. I might switch genres and try "The Ruins" by Scott Smith, which I've heard is scary.

They only charge me $14 every time because I go so often. It's like a frequent haircuttee discount. :P
