Hey, you Blogger bloggers out there. Anyone switched to the new version? I heard that the one-button photo posting from Flickr no longer works with this new version, and I was wondering if that's the only downside?
I haven't switched either. But I resist 'change' for the sake of change. Maybe if BLOGGER cheats on me with my best friend I'll seek a change. Oh, wait. No. Guess not.
MG, I'm sure Michael will tell us that it was his forehead Blogger was referring to... or something equally self-deprecating. We know the truth though, right? Even if only in our imaginations.
I did hear from somebody that after switching he lost his template. So you have been warned. I didn't have this problem and it looks the same as ever.
If you do convert have your Google account name and password handy. Also -- as my new software ritual goes -- after I downloaded it and did what it wanted, I booted down, rebooted and signed back on. All was fine.
Just remember that it's not an instant process... the little blogger pixies obviously have to either manually move the blog or something, because it took them around 10 hours to change me over...
As for the flikr thing, alas, can't tell you since I'm not a flikrite...
I will mention that the spell check occasionally "eats" an image for some reason (no idea what's going on there), so I've just started doing a copy of the image HTML before I spell check, then it's easy to just dump it back in again.
I've resisted so far 'cos I'm on an iMac and have discovered that while Safari works okay with regular Blogger, Firefox can be a bit tricky and Internet Explorer is hopeless with it. So I've dreaded what Safari might make of a Beta test "improvement" - and I just found a Beta Blogger update page, of a guy leaving a comment at my page, where his layout has gone all screwy.

I haven't tried switching lately, but the first five times they enticed me with the new version, they subsequently rejected me as being "too large".
They just don't know how to rise to a challenge.

MICHAEL: 'too large'? Yeah, baby.

I did it and so far so good.

I switched about a month ago... no complaints really...
I blogged my thoughts about it already...
