A Weekend Most Excellent

I know the title of this post kind of says it all really. It kind of shows my hand before the cards have even been fully dealt. Don't tell, show right?

The weekend kicked off with a Friday night out with James and Graeme, trawling (trolling?) the hots spots of Oxford Street - The Midnight Shift downstairs, The Oxford, Palms. I hadn't been out on Oxford Street for ages, and it was fun for a change. Palms was the most fun, and I even managed to get my dance on. I've still got moves.

Saturday morning involved a haircut and a bijou hangover. We love Haircut Day! This Haircut Day involved blonde streaks, and while I quite like the end result it's not as good as I have had in the past. A bit too subtle, just a general lightening rather than the sunkissed surfer boy I was hoping for. Whatevs. I don't hate it, and I've had a few compliments this morning so it can't be all bad. The EGO must have it's way.

Post haircut I met up with Mikey (the lovely ex), his new boyfriend Evan (who is absolutely adorable) and a friend of Evan's (the handsome Paul) for brunch. Afterwards, in the early afternoon, Mikey, Evan and I headed over to The Bank Hotel to laze around on their luxe banquettes, sip a few wines and watch Fashion TV on the big screen.

You have to try real hard to get that much gay in one sentence.

Sunday I had a sleep in, futzed around at home doing laundry and such, and then headed to pub knitting at The Courthouse Hotel. The weather was glorious, once you were out of the cool wind, and I even got a little sunburnt. (Still not quite sunkissed surfer boy, but you can try right?) Then home in the late afternoon to finish getting the weekend's chores out of the way, and watch the trainwreck that is this year's Australian Idol. (No link, they're not deserving.)

So, as I stated a weekend Most Excellent. You?

truly most excellent, as we would say in our house.

Lovely weegend. Saurday morning saw me queueing at the RTA but once that was over and a little necessary grocery shopping complete I was free to roam in Ravelry for a while. Then we swam at the new Ian Thorpe pool. Home to potroast beef, mash and veg. Sunday was working in the morning, then an hour's gardening at each of our houses, followed by lifestyle TV and knitting. Who could ask for more?

Lovely. Absolutely adorable. Handsome. Sun-kissed. Without photos, oh, how you tease me, adjectives!

Sounds fab.

Saturday was one of those almost perfect Red Letter Days, wasn't it. Even the wind and the slight chill couldn't put me off. I just didn't want the lazy afternoon of riesling and Fashion TV to end, actually. Though the dinner at gastro-pub, The Grand National that night with Linda and the (nerdy cute) Ted was lots of fun. Our waiter was very archly camp and a lot of fun. And Ted showed quite a clean pair of heels (or perhaps pumps) in the "loudly slag off the haircut of the woman at the next table" competition. Earning us glares from her hubby/significant other on their way out... Ooh err, I'm so scared (not). Sorry, I was channeling my inner 13 year old girl there.

Ur-spo, when things are indeed Most Excellent then all you can do is name them as such, right? Truly.

M-H, sounds fab! How was th Ian Thorpe pool? Kinda gay? :)

Michael, I felt hungover and like 100 years old on Saturday morning. No pictures, I'm a mooooooonsterrrrr!!

Mikey, I had such fun with you boys on Saturday! Truly a lovely way to spend the day, and the Fashion TV just kicked it up that notch extra. Who knew that Ted was such a naughty minx?

Yeah, the Ian Thorpe Pool was a bit gay. Maybe. ;) It was a very pleasant environment, and the water didn't seem as chorine-y as the other local pools, which was nice. But too many ankle-biters for our tastes. There was even a boy birthday party, complete with lots of middle-class fathers standing around chatting manfully and clogging the coffee area.

OMG, you went to Palms! Pity you didn't get there while I was still in Sinny. I hope you danced to Dolly...

It sounds like a lovely time. I'm sure you're just being modest about your sun-kissed adorability.

Nash, you crack me up. THEY DID PLAY DOLLY. Ha! I danced on my own to a couple of songs because a) Graeme does not dance and b) James had an 'only to Kylie' dance policy. How am I supposed to work with those sorts of restrictions?...

Gotta love Palms. I always have a good time playing spot the fag hag (I can, because I am one). They are always the wider, shorter and less stylish of the ladies and they always have amazing looking dates.

Go Palms!

I don't dance, what can I say? I still had a fab time. Loved the music, stayed til almost 3am. Andrew had left, James had left. I was there with a beer, great music & a smile.

I was a bit worried about Andrew though - he's so mopey without a boyfriend. He *really, really* needs a boyfriend at the moment.

I'd be happy with just lots of money but then again, I'm queer ;-)

Mopey? MOPEY. I wouldn't have labelled myself as mopey. Huh?
