A Kick Up The Jacksie

A smack around the chops. A swift boot to the arse. A ticket to Get Over It City, express.

All the above are what I feel like I need. I've been so tired, sore, lethargic and lacking in motivation for much of this week. Blah de blah. I blame my back and the tail end of my cold for a good chunk of that, but the rest? Eh. You know when you look at yourself in the mirror and think "C'mon now lil' soldier, enough is enough".

I'm off to see the doc about my back tomorrow, worst case scenario is another prolapsed disk. I had one about 6 years ago, that took 6 months of physiotherapy to fix. Some, but not all, of the symptoms are the same - so I'm crossing everything I can, you know? If you feel like doing that too, then it would be mucho appreciado.

I also kind of became indirectly linked to the retrenchment of 3 part-time employees. The new role I'm taking up here at work is part of a restructure that sees the disappearance of 3 part-time admin positions. I'm not saying I'm responsible, but I am working right alongside these 3 people and by being here I've allowed them to make the changes they've wanted to for a while. Yes, the mood is a bit tense.

So, it's been a tough week. I don't know about you guys, but it's kind of easy to focus on the negatives during a week like this. You know? What starts out as being tired, sore and stressed at work ends up being why am I still single?, I feel fat, my living arrangement needs an overhaul, Australian Idol is really, really shit this year...

So. My plan for the rest of the week is to get my back seen to, have a haircut and some blonde highlights on Saturday, maybe go and see Hairspray (or some other piece of puff) and buy that ticket to Get Over It City. One way.

I so agree about Idol. Do you read Bland Canyon ? Really good Idol commentary. And we need it this year. Last week has to be the worst week so far, ever. Although I know it could get excruciating, I'm kinda looking forward to it in a strange kind of way. A so bad it's good type of way. All things crossed that the back is ok.

The contestants are a bit craptastic, but the judges?! Urgh. Their bitching and arguing between themselves is just turning the show into the biggest steaming pile of negativity.

Plus, you're damned if you try and interpret and put your own stamp on things, and damned if you don't. So inconsistent.

Save the highlights, I LOVE your plan for the rest of the week. Frosting is for cupcakes, Cupcake. But if it makes you happy, I suppose.

I SO know the feeling when you tumble over the precipice into Woe Is Me Canyon. It all starts to echo back on itself, doesn't it?

Baby steps, my darling, but you're already at least one baby step ahead of me on that. You have your plan.

I got some NOT so great news about my house inspection. Nothing drastic, but more expense before I can get this deal closed. So what did I do? Got a haircut I'm tickled about, and a pedicure...well, I'll just say that Shavonda is my new Queen and leave it at that. Or maybe I'll say that my foot is slender and NOW it's so smooth that...oh, I'll just leave it at the first part.

No love for highlights? Just when I think I can't be surprised anymore. It's an early herald of summer or something. I'm also considering ditching the beard. We'll see.

I think the woe thing is some sort of feedback loop.

You have a plan. Putting the house on the market is a step in a plan, right? Maybe you don't have all the answers, but you're giving youself a kick in the arse of sorts. I hope the home news improves, btw.

I could never inflict my feet on a manicurist. They just don't have the training to cope with anything that ugly.

Instead of seeing a backache and a cold as causes of one's inner state, I would see them as symptoms of something within. Whenever experiencing a bout of "health karma", I view it as something being expiated. So you're already getting better! Always!

Of course, it's easy to get caught up in the physical discomfort, and then the whole thing becomes "ourobouros"-like. The inner causes the outer, then we react to the outer, making the effect the cause. Does this make any sense? Anyway, that's why we must always remain positive!

By the way---highlights? I say GO FOR IT!!!

What you need to do (not that I'm being directive...) is organise a spectacular picnic soiree for the long weekend! Evan has canvassed the idea amongst his gang of many and all are in favour. Think of the cupcakes, think of me bringing my collection of anodised aluminium picnic cups. Think of me whipping up some bellinis al fresco. Think of cold herb chicken salad. Oh and Evan has a cute (and single) friend called Damien. Think of that and turn that frown upside down missy!

Picnic does sound good doesn't it? Bellinis sound very good.

Well then, hop to it young man.

All the plans sound just dandy! I had Hairspray on my list of wants too...want company?

I saw Hairspray last week, and would recommend waiting until it's on dvd. But that's just li'l ol' opinionated me!

Keeping my fingers crossed for your back. You know, maybe you just need a holiday? When was the last time you had one? I'm having my very overdue one now, and it's making the world of difference.

I'm taking some holidays over Christmas, the difference is that for the first time in a couple of years I'll be paid for them! :-)
