To Whom Am I Speaking Please?

I love 4 day extended long weekends, especially in the way that there is a matching set of short weeks either side of the weekend. Like glorious bookends. Yay!

The only downside is that our clients at work, all who are elderly and some who have issues with senility of varying degress, get 4 days to stew over whatever issue is bothering them. (Sometimes real issues, but not always). So that has been our morning so far, phone call after phone call. You always know when you're in for a good one when the caller bypasses pleasantries entirely and starts off with "Now look..."

Le sigh.

That was me on the phone to Telstra this morning after a week of having no landline or internet at home and having to be on hold for thirty minutes plus at a time on my mobile.

le sigh, indeed ;-)

Urgh. I hate having to deal with Telstra and their ilk. It turns me into a curmudgeon! I empathise.

"Empathise?" You're just making that up now.

And I've probably lost business by INSISTING that people identify themselves before I'll continue with the call. It's common courtesy! I should never answer my own phone.

Ha ha! That's why I entitled this "To whom am I speaking?"! If they start with the whole "Now look" thing it's gets off-message pretty quickly.

Dude, I am totally empathic. It's almost like I invented empathy. That's why I even cry at sad commercials.

Yeah, I get it. You're Deanna Effin' Troi. It's the spelling that threw me. I think sometimes you make that shit up.

I could do the little cheerleader-esque Troi uniform, but I draw the line at the big hair.

Hey you, the Great Martini Slayer, that's how you spell empathise! Next you'll be saying there's no "u" in flavour...

Oh dear. I think this was the blog equivalent of a drunk dial. Or a booty call.
