Sleepover!

I promise this blog won't become too much of a litany of my medical issues, but along with getting more liver tests done I have to go and do an overnight sleep clinic test thingy to discover why I have such a poor relationship with sleep these days. Sleepover! The aim is to find out if I have sleep apnea or not. (Reading the list of symptoms does sound like what I am going through these days, but then internet self-diagnosing is a bit like horoscopes - you can make it fit if you try hard enough.)

Anyhoo. Sleepover! I wonder if they'll let me stay up late talking about boys, pledging to be BFFs with the night nurse, watching a DVD of "High School Musical" and braiding someone's hair?

[Updated: JESUSMARYANDJOSEPH, I just booked my appointment for an abdominal ultrasound and they said it can cost around $200. Crap! I don't know how much of that I can claim back, but if I'm going to spend that sort of money I expect a full service happy ending, know what I'm sayin'? Maybe even a cup of tea and a biscuit afterwards.]

good luck; lots of people end up sleeping quite well at these things - because they feel safe there
others sleep not at all as it is so lab-like
I hope they find some matter for you.

I am completely hopeless in a strange bed though as I'm such a light sleeper, so I'm not sure I'll sleep at all. It's worth a try though.

I have to organise a sleepover at a sleep clinic sometime too, so I'm all set for a pyjama* party and you can braid my hair - I've always wanted to try the African braids. There's got to be some point to the insomnia.

MsFoil, these days I'm not sure any of us are up to wearing the baby-doll type twin sets... if we ever were ;-)

my only problem with sleep these days is toddler-induced. can I come on the sleepover and do a bit of catch up?

TOA, WHO is the creepy guy in the middle of the pillow fight? I'm thinking mid-west baptist minister but I could be wrong...

I just googled pic'd "sleepover" and this pic was one I got. I'm not sure who it is?!

OK, so Sarah, Speedy and I, sleepover!

It does beg the question what to wear to this thing. I hadn't thought about that. Guess I have to buy some pyjamas...

Interestingly I'm a really deep sleeper once I drop off (I once slept through a thunderstorm that happened pretty much right over the house when I was a kid), but I'm the same way about sleeping in a strange bed... takes me forever to get to sleep...

As I recall from my last abdominal ultrasound, here in the states they bill somewhere around $600 for the procedure. Took all of about 30 min. Well, except that it was done by a very nice, very gay student sonographer who had his work double-checked, so it might have taken a smidge longer.
