There's An Army On The Dancefloor

OK, so the server at my new office doesn't block YouTube like it used to and frankly I'm like a kid with a new puppy. Excitable, much? You know what, I don't even care if alarm bells are ringing all over head office because I can get my 80s music clips on! Expect a tour through my youth for a while.

So, here's my big love The Psychedlic Furs. I own this album on vinyl, and even saw these guys live once in the 80s. As a reformed French Horn player I was beyond excited to see they used one on stage. It's the little things, right?

"Love My Way" by The Pyschedelic Furs:

My local pub The Newtown Hotel has this on the video jukebox, and every time I play any songs (3 for $2 - a bargain) I include this in the set. If you are in Sydney and visit The Newtown Hotel, and this comes on, well look for me in the crowd.

Oooh, I went through a big Furs phase earlier this year! Have LOVED them from the beginning. Of course. Oh, too many memories...(Sadly, they just played at a local suburban "RibFest" recently...)

Isn't it interesting how songs like "President Gas" and "Here Come Cowboys", written during the Reagan era, are just as relevant now? Unfortunate, but true.

Now that you've got the YouTube action, make sure to catch up on the Fabulon videos. They are all either completely fabulous or completely absurd. Or both. Enjoy!

You know it's the 'both' that really pushes my buttons, right? There is NOTHING I love more than fabulous absurdity.

Glad you love the Furs too!

You're killing me here. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

This is another band I was lucky enough to see - I went in 1986. And again about four years ago. Both times were wonderful. Richard Butler is so damn hot.

And Pretty in Pink? Are you kidding me?

I have to go lie down; I seem to be awash in nostalgia.

I LOVE 'Pretty In Pink'. That song makes me want to claw at myself in pleasure.

I'd like to see THAT!

The Ghost in You makes me feel sad, but in a good, nostalgic kinda way....just thought I'd share.

Hey Andrew, this has nothing to do with anything except that it just popped into my wee little head...I've been meaning to ask, have you seen an Australian film called "Head On"? It came out around 2000, it's like a gay/Greek/Australian "Trainspotting" with the extremely HOT Alex Dimitriades in the lead. My guess is that you're familiar with it, but if not, rent it tonight! It ROCKS!

BTW, "The Ghost In You" might be my favorite Furs tune, followed by "Love My Way" and "All of This and Nothing". Oh, I could go on and on. But you know that.

So, like, if I hear this song at The Newtown Hotel I should immediately stop looking for the gem sweater and matching leg warmer-clad Andrew!?!

I was just listening to the Furs (go figure) and remembered reading that Richard Butler was almost electrocuted while shooting the "Love My Way" video. Something about water and electricity...
