Jared Flood Is A Frickin' Genius

Seriously. Seriously. I think this is absolutely gorgeous. Now I'm thinking I really, really need to try knitting it immediately.

Oooh, if you can do it, you simply must!

The world needs more beauty...

(What color?)

Ah, the eternal question...

I kind of like the way Jared has done it in a tweedy natural looking wool. Takes it out of the granny blanket territory and into something completely different, you know?

Yes, that would be the risk one runs doing such an intricate piece. His color choice is perfect!

He's like Male Knitter Prime. All of his stuff is absolutely gorgeous. His photography is amazing too, and he has a really cute partner (Luigi). I kind of hate him a bit as well. (I kidd of course!)

It's good to have a role model...

It's better to be one!

It's clearly very skilful, but I'm sorry, I still see granny blanket.

Does that mean I'm out of the club?

I like the blanket a lot but nothing beats his aran cardigan from a few months back. Almost makes me consider steaking. Almost!

I would love something knit and own something like this, but I'm not sure I can deal with the blocking. I never seem to have enough clean floor space and then there is all that crawling...

I just looked at the yarn he used. It knits up to around 4 sts=1", which means you could make one out of Bendigo 12 ply for a reasonable amount of money.

I think one of the Bendigo yarns is around a 10 ply weight and not a crepe. Actually I think they do the Rustic in a 12ply... hmmm... maybe in one of the 'natural' colours in the Rustic...

It IS beautiful and I agree that his photography makes it more so, and interesting for those of us not into the clickety clacking.

I love it. I have this crazy urge to knit doilies. My grandma knit and crochet doilies and tablecloths in the finest of yarns and I didn't care for them growing up but over the past couple years I've been itching to knit "modern" doilies, if that's even a thing. I mean, I can still be hip if I've knit a bunch of doilies. Right? RIGHT?

Michael, it's true that his photography really enhances his work. He has quite a few imitators out there in blog land.

Maggie, you could knit whatever you like and still be hip. :) I like the idea of scaling it up a) avoids thouse tricksy little mini needles and b) hello, grows faster!

Oh and the blankey is pretty too... I kinda see it in a palish "steel" blue grey colour... I think that would be classy
