5 Things About The Weekend That Was

  1. There may well be a God(dess) after all. Some sort of deity had a hand in creating the Ricotta Hotcakes with berries and maple syrup I had on Saturday afternoon whilst knitting at cafe Barmuda. Did someone just ring a bell? ::salivate::
  2. The Sunday night music at The Newtown Hotel was all retro and awesome in it's awesomeness. I mean, I Can't Stand The Rain by Eruption/Precious Wilson? "Lady Bump" by Penny McLean? (That is the Silver Convention Penny McLean, naturalmente.) So. Fabulous.
  3. You know you're in the company of men of a certain age when you look around the room and see lips moving in time with a 30 year old pop song. And yes James Charles O'Brien that includes you.
  4. Speaking of rain, and the hating of which, sneakers are not a sensible choice of footwear when it has been raining for like 2 days straight, as I discovered last night. Note to self.
  5. If someone gives you a birthday present two and a bit weeks before your birthday, does that entitle you to start celebrating from that point onwards? It does, right? I mean, it's all me, me, me, me, me anyway, but now there's gifts too, right? My sweet friend Sarah popped in yesterday afternoon and gave me two fantastic knitting books of men's knitwear, Knitting With Balls and Men Who Knit And The Dogs Who Love Them. Score!

That's the sound of me banging my head on the desk because I can't get this post to appear on the main page of my blog. #$%@ing Blogger.

Those book titles are hilarious. Good work Sarah!

I loved "I Can't Stand The Rain". And so appropriate for the weekend that was.

I worked, thanks for asking.

So, what do you want for your birthday. Other than a replacement lens, of course?

Knitting with balls! Just saying it is fun, no? The other book is all cute models in sweaters and such, with cute dogs... in sweaters and such. It makes my teeth ache from all the sweetness.

Mikey (tle), yeah the weather was a bit craptastic. Probably not a bad choice of weekend to have to be working, in hindsight.

Dude, when is your natal day? Mine is coming soon Sept. 7th). VIRGOS RULE!!!

It's been raining here almost every day and night for the past three weeks.

Here comes the rain again...

Thom, mine's 4th September! Virgos not only RULE, but we do it with a firm but fair hand, yes?

The sooner all non-Virgos understand this the easier life will be for them.

BTW - I forgot to mention "S-s-s-single Bed" by Noosha Fox played last night as well. God I loved that song! I can't YouTube anymore (got sprung) otherwise I'd post it. I'll try and remember to do it form home sometime.

On a birthday-related note, I feel bad for everyone who's birthday is September 11th. At least in the US, that would be a major drag...

Yah, my sister's birthday is September 12th and we all woke up here on that day to the news of what was happening, because of the time difference.

I have an American friend who was living in Australia at the time, and she said on that day (the 12th) a woman she had never met before (Australian) just walked up to her and gave her a hug. They both had a good cry, as well...

But enought about THAT.

Anyway, technically, one not only has the entire month of their birthday to celebrate, but also 30 days prior to and after that date. So live it up!

Happy Birthday, TOA. Have a wonderful two weeks+ celebrating it!

My sister's birthday is also September 4. My niece's is September 11, so I am sure I'll never forget it.

The world is full of Virgos. I blame all those Christmas/New Year celebrations...

I normally have the whole month to celebrate the fact that my mother uncrossed her legs at just the right time.
Happy Birthmonth, Andrew. :-)
