Winter Is A Comin' In

Diamonds & Jade

Some lunchtime sights, on a grey and rainy day. Most of today it rained lightly and constantly, then when I left work the sky was piled up with heavy, slate coloured cloud. Back lit and somehow nacreous. Ten minutes later it was full dark and raining heavily, and I was glad to have my umbrella, scarfe and heavy cashmere & wool coat.

In the middle of the day though, all it took was a close glance to see that everything had been glossed, coated in shellac, and sprinkled in gems.

Nacreous, huh?

It's the summer solstice here...the longest day of the year.

Nacreous. Possessing nacre. Pearlescent. I know you love the vocab big guy. How you doin'? Got wood?

Summer huh? *Sigh* Well, thus nature balances itself I guess. :(

there is nothing 'balanced' here - summer in arizona means daily temps of over 40 degrees!
Thanks for the welcome

All these Michael's remind me of a time at my old AA homegroup. In that particular meeting we all sit in a large circle, and at the start of the meeting briefly go around and give each person a chance to identify in the usual AA "my name is ____, and I'm an alcoholic" manner.

There would have been about 20 people there that night. And would you believe that there was not only six, count 'em, six Michael's there that night, but we were also all sitting together. As I was the last of them, I couldn't help but identify as "my name is alcoholic, and I'm a Michael". Much to everyone's amusement.

M'kay, maybe you just had to be there ...
