Inigo

One of the things I did this weekend (aside from the shopping, the eating, the drinking lots and lots of beers) was to take some photos of my friends Lara and Mark's 17 day old son Inigo.

Prepare thee for some cuteness!

Lara and Mark are both knitters, and both have lots of friends who are knitters, so as you can imagine Lara and I just had to play dress-ups with Inigo's knitwear collection. Baby fashion parade! He didn't once complain that the Champagne was domestic, disappear into the bathroom to do lines of blow with the make-up boys, or call his booker to get me the hell out of here, so he has a few lessons to learn about being a top model. Although there were a couple of (very small) crying meltdowns...

While I was there one other model was anxious to get her close up.

What a gorgeous little boy!!! The third picture is just awesome! Great photos. And the other model is pretty terrific, too.

Very very cute!! The foot one is especially gorgeous!!
Have to ask: is the orange an EZ surprise?

The Other Andrew said...

Yes Cecilia, the orange jacket is an EZ Baby Surprise Jacket. I'm not sure who made it, but it's really fine, soft yarn. Very cute.

Nice pictures, nice knit wear, nice bird, but I was curious about the kids name, and thanks to www.babynames.com I found this out;

Meaning = Fiery
Origin = Portuguese
Other Info: form of Ignatius Also used in English speaking countries. Inigo Jones, 17th century English architect.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm staggered by the sheer density of cuteness packed into such a small area.

My uterus just clenched.

Jodie,
thanks for that. I knew of Inigo Jones, but I hadn't heard the definition of "fiery" before. I wonder if they may want to rethink?...

Michael,
I know, right? So really cute.

What a cute baby!

The Latin for fiery is igneus from whence we get igneous (rocks from volcanoes). The name Inigo sounds like it could be be related to that, but is actually from the Basque name Eneko (possibly from Etruscan, meaning unknown).

Inigo was the birth name of the founder of the Jesuits, before he changed it to Ignatius. However, our main source for the name was Inigo Montoya

I knitted the jacket and it seemed SO small but it looks as though he can still grow into it. My mother was horrified that I would knit orange and red stripes for a new baby but then she's never met Lara!

Hey Mark, Lara, pompom! Pompom, that jacket is so cute. And yes, it looked tiny but then once any of the smaller jackets were on him they looked so big! He'll be growing out of them in no time though I'm sure.
