Sometimes it pays to celebrate yourself, you know? Like when you finally do something you've been putting off doing. Small goals. Minor victories.
So in the spirit of celebration, I'm digging the fact that I've achieved two things today:
1. A smallish (but not insignificant) weight loss for the second week in a row in our work Biggest Loser Challenge. Alrighty then!
2. I finally got myself some photo ID. "What?" you ask? I know! Since my passport expired several years ago I have been a man without photo ID, because I don't know how to drive so I (understandably, and unsurprisingly) have never been issued with a Driver's Licence. Yes it has made life tough at times, no I don't know why I didn't take it out of the Too Hard Basket and organise it earlier. Laziness? Avoidance? All of the above? But now I'm the proud owner of a State of NSW Photo Card, complete with butt ugly mug shot. Woohoo!
All of a sudden it's like there's nothing I can't achieve. Almost!

Congrats on all accounts!
On a related note, last week I got a bank account---for the first time since 1983! It's never too late to grow up, I guess.
GET OUT.
Srsly? No bank account? How does one do that? All the places I've worked at since about 1990 won't pay you unless they can deposit it direct into a bank account. Wow.
Congrats! I think we need to celebrate our own achievements as often as possible!
Congrats and all, but you've never driven?
Cecilia,
Agreed!
Michael,
A car? No, I've never driven a car. I've driven people crazy/to drink. I've driven my parents up the wall. I've played the "bend over, I'll drive" game. But a car, NO.
it means u need to take more overseas holidays darls...
But good on you for getting it done!
TOA---I haven't had a "real" job in decades! Remember, bartenders get paid in cash, and the float tank gig was also "under the table", as it were. But I'm going legit at least until after I'm settled out west. Then we'll see.
In a related matter, my driver's license expired in 1986 and I've never renewed it. Who needs a car in the Big City? Not I.
Anyway, good for you for losing some poundage. You're a better man than I!
Frankly, I was shocked that I lost any poundage because I haven't exactly had my eyes on the prize!
So, you'll get to enjoy doing a tax return soon too! What fun, not. :)
There are ways around that, too. Take my word for it!
Down with The System!
ANARCHIST.
C'est moi!
Well done on both counts. I may feel inspired to do some tax returns and deal with my super in the near future.
i concur that the minor things are the ones best to celebrate
congrats on both of yours.
are we to see the photo on the ID?
...are we to see the photo on the ID?
Probably not! :)
