Any idea what kind they are? I can assure you that they really are that brightly coloured! They're quite small, so you get little flashes of bright colours as they fly through the trees - like this pic by my friend Laubscher. The Other Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12492925896131382172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-56386919344836436872007-03-14T05:23:00.000+11:002007-03-14T05:23:00.000+11:00The only other birds (other than pigeons & finches...The only other birds (other than pigeons & finches) we get in my area (Long Beach - suburb of L.A.) are these green parrots that fly around in a NOISY flock. The "story" is that they escaped from a petshop that burnt down.

Supposedly someone ran in while the fire was going and started to open up all of the animal's cages. Since then these birds have multplied like crazy. They're beautiful, but noisy.

That Lorikeet looks unreal...photoshop? haha!Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03309612479192244642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-71991411207564348202007-03-13T23:20:00.000+11:002007-03-13T23:20:00.000+11:00There are trees in the Northern Rivers were these ...There are trees in the Northern Rivers were these guys would get seriously drunk then fly off, haphazardly in all directions - they were entertainment!

Occasionally they'd fly over the nearest human and piss... so watch out.Miss Wiredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13275197056140374576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-42731640229070390732007-03-13T15:36:00.000+11:002007-03-13T15:36:00.000+11:00Hah, then they'd really never shut up!...Hah, then they'd really never shut up!...The Other Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12492925896131382172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-39733845481451288512007-03-13T15:31:00.000+11:002007-03-13T15:31:00.000+11:00A mention! :-)At our old apartment we used to have...A mention! :-)

At our old apartment we used to have a flock of about twenty lorikeets who'd visit us on a daily basis. Nothing can adequately prepare you for the noise they can make.

Andrew, if those lorikeets are regulars at your work you should put out a bowl of water with honey for them. If they drink enough of it they get a bit drunk :-)Andreashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03482347070461572817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-84441352342004505182007-03-13T14:12:00.000+11:002007-03-13T14:12:00.000+11:00what a gorgeous birdWhen I dream of going to Austr...what a gorgeous bird
When I dream of going to Australia, it is to see the wildlife like this.Ur-spohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04237644452200889946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-85180928585717857632007-03-13T13:22:00.000+11:002007-03-13T13:22:00.000+11:00We get nightly (almost) fly overs of flocks of coc...We get nightly (almost) fly overs of flocks of cockatoos. I just commented to someone here yesterday how they seem to be one of the few birds that call too each other constantly as they fly. Noisy, but it's always a great heads up to spot them. The Other Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12492925896131382172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7035053.post-69886261234604210922007-03-13T13:03:00.000+11:002007-03-13T13:03:00.000+11:00They've been very noisy aorund here too, along wit...They've been very noisy aorund here too, along with the cockatoos.
